This $837,142 Project Grant from the US Department of Agriculture Agricultural Marketing Service through the Farmers Market and Local Food Promotion Program (FMLFPP) will support efforts by the Kentucky Horticulture Council and partners to expand markets and reduce post-harvest losses for specialty crop growers in Kentucky. The Council and University of Kentucky will provide direct technical assistance to 250 growers on post-harvest handling and marketing improvements and will assist 80 growers in obtaining Good Agricultural Practices certification. They will also partner with Cultivate Kentucky and other organizations to deliver general educational programs to 2,500 growers and more intensive GAP training to 100 growers.
