The Oregon Farmers Market Association (OFMA) received a $700,287.66 Project Grant award from the United States Department of Agriculture Agricultural Marketing Service under the Farmers Market and Local Food Promotion Program (FMLFPP) to create the Oregon Farmers Market Learning Network. The three-year program will establish a statewide community of practice of at least 90 farmers markets focused on peer-led knowledge exchange and expert technical assistance in four high-need training areas: organizational development, branding and marketing, new and beginning vendor support, and diversity, equity and inclusion. Ten markets will also participate in an impact measurement research cohort. OFMA will use insights gained to develop a digital toolkit on the priority topics. The Network aims to improve market stability, vendor participation, customer counts, and vendor sales through regularly occurring learning opportunities.
