The Good Meat Project was awarded a $620,891 Project Grant from the United States Department of Agriculture Agricultural Marketing Service under the Farmers Market and Local Food Promotion Program. The grant will support the development of marketing capacity for 300 local meat producers in Oregon, Wisconsin, Iowa, New York and New Mexico through professional marketing materials and technical training. Specifically, the Good Meat Project will collaborate with five producer organizations in the target states to identify region-specific marketing needs and build a shared online resource of professionally designed materials such as guides on bulk meat purchasing, social media kits and cooking videos. The project will also execute 10 technical marketing trainings within each collaborator's producer network focused on digital and in-person strategies, messaging, sales tactics, pricing and customer communication. By the grant completion date in September 2024, over 3,700 additional local meat producers are expected to benefit from the disseminated materials and trainings.
