The US Department of Agriculture Forest Service awarded a $350,000 Project Grant to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources under the State & Private Forestry Cooperative Fire Assistance federal grant program (CFDA 10.698). The grant will fund wildfire risk reduction activities in the Arrowhead region of Minnesota from July 2021 through September 2025. Specifically, the funding will support efforts to re-engage local communities in preventing, controlling, and suppressing rural fires on non-federal forest and other rural lands. It will also aid in the development and transfer of new approaches to the prescribed use of controlled burns. The work will be carried out across all DNR divisions and locations in Minnesota.
