Northwestern University was awarded a three-year $338,133 Project Grant from the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Mathematical and Physical Sciences program (CFDA 47.049). The grant funds research on mean field spin glass models and first-passage percolation models to analyze complex disordered systems where interactions have high-dimensional dependence structures and where extremes play a significant role. Key products include quantifying the low-temperature structure of mean field spin glass models to establish the Parisi description of full replica symmetry breaking, studying limit shapes, fluctuations and geodesics in first passage percolation beyond classical cases, and establishing properties of equilibria in random dynamical systems. The PI will also mentor and train graduate students and postdoctoral researchers. The award supports NSF's mission to strengthen the Nation's scientific enterprise through advancing mathematical and physical sciences.
