The National Science Foundation awarded a $391,761 Project Grant to the University of Massachusetts Amherst under the Mathematical and Physical Sciences program (CFDA 47.049) to support the REU SITE: MURALS (MATERIALS-FOCUSED UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH APPLIED TO THE LIFE SCIENCES) program. The grant will fund the program from April 1, 2022 through March 31, 2025. MURALS will provide undergraduate students research experience in materials science focused on life sciences applications through hands-on lab and research projects at UMass Amherst. As the awardee, UMass will oversee program operations and student research projects out of its Hadley, MA location using the NSF funding over the three year period.
