Clarkson University received a $149,707 Project Grant award from the National Science Foundation Office of Emerging Frontiers and Multidisciplinary Activities on September 15, 2021 to complete the project by August 31, 2022. The grant was awarded under the Engineering program (CFDA 47.041) to support the development of the FIREFIGHTER EXOSKELETON FOR NAVIGATION IN EXTREME ENVIRONMENTS (FENIXE). Specifically, the grant funding will enable Clarkson University to research and develop an exoskeleton device to assist firefighters in navigating hazardous environments by reducing physical strain and risk of injury. The Engineering program aims to improve quality of life and economic strength by fostering innovation and excellence in engineering research.
