The National Science Foundation awarded $286,569 to Florida International University under the Technology, Innovation, and Partnerships federal grant program (CFDA 47.084) for the project "PFI-TT: A Reliable, Fast and Low-Cost Field Test for Hemp" from August 1, 2021 to January 31, 2023.
The award will support the development of a reliable, fast and low-cost field test for hemp. The Technology, Innovation, and Partnerships program seeks to advance science and engineering research and innovation leading to breakthrough technologies as well as solutions to national challenges. The hemp field test developed under this award has the potential to provide law enforcement and regulators a cost-effective solution to distinguish between hemp and marijuana in the field, addressing an important national need.
