The National Science Foundation awarded a $224,415 project grant to the University of Alaska Fairbanks under the Geosciences program (CFDA 47.050) to acquire a microwave radiometer for Arctic atmospheric boundary layer research and education. The University of Alaska Systems is the parent organization of the awardee. The project grant will fund the acquisition of a microwave radiometer to support research and education activities exploring the integrated Earth system through the atmosphere, earth, and ocean sciences. Specifically, the radiometer will be used for Arctic atmospheric boundary layer studies from August 2021 through July 2023. The funding will strengthen the national scientific enterprise by expanding knowledge of Earth's atmosphere through acquisition of this instrumentation and its application to research and training in Alaska.
