The University of Oregon was awarded a $122,856 Project Grant from the National Science Foundation under the Mathematical and Physical Sciences program (CFDA 47.049) to acquire an inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometer. This instrument will enable quantitative elemental analysis of natural and engineered materials to advance scientific understanding. Project work will be conducted from August 2021 through July 2024 in Eugene, Oregon. As the sole awardee and sub-awardee, the University of Oregon will utilize the new spectrometry technology to analyze sample compositions and further major research goals of the NSF's program to increase fundamental knowledge in mathematical and physical sciences fields through advanced instrumentation and research.
