The University of Rhode Island will receive $395,696 over two years through a Project Grant from the National Science Foundation Division of Ocean Sciences under the Geosciences program (CFDA 47.050).
The grant will support the Marine Geological Samples Laboratory at the University's Graduate School of Oceanography to provide curation services for marine sample collections. As part of the Geosciences program's goal of expanding knowledge of the integrated Earth system through basic research, the laboratory will curate and store geological samples collected from marine environments to support research conducted by the scientific community. The samples will be properly stored and maintained at the laboratory facilities in Point Judith, Rhode Island through May 2023.
