The National Science Foundation awarded a $241,628 Project Grant to Temple University under the STEM Education federal grant program (CFDA 47.076) to examine the effects of course climate, active learning, and intersectional identities on undergraduate student success in computing. The three-year project beginning July 1, 2021 will analyze how pedagogical practices and consideration of student social identities impact retention and performance in introductory computing courses. Insights gained from the research will inform the development of evidence-based strategies to broaden participation in the computing field and support student learning and degree attainment. The STEM Education program supports the development of a robust STEM education enterprise through research and projects to improve preK-12 and undergraduate learning.
