The University of Alabama was awarded a $324,544 project grant from the National Science Foundation to determine pathways for improved oxidation resistance in compositionally complex alloys. The grant was awarded on August 1, 2021 under the NSF's Mathematical and Physical Sciences program (CFDA 47.049) to promote progress in these fields and strengthen the nation's scientific enterprise. Over a three-year period ending July 31, 2024, the University will conduct research to increase understanding of major problems confronting the nation by exploring how to enhance oxidation resistance in advanced alloys with complex compositions. Results from this work have the potential to contribute to the development of stronger and longer-lasting materials across various industries.
