The National Science Foundation awarded a $172,182 Project Grant to Middle Tennessee State University under the Mathematical and Physical Sciences program (CFDA 47.049) on September 1, 2021. The grant will fund research from September 1, 2021 through August 31, 2024 titled "CAS: A Rethinking of Borrowing Hydrogen: From Ligand Design to New Reactions and Mechanisms." The grant supports the university's work investigating ligand design approaches to facilitate hydrogen borrowing chemistry, with the goal of discovering new reaction types and understanding their mechanisms. Findings from this research could expand the toolbox of synthetic chemists and increase understanding of fundamental bonding interactions.
