The University of New Hampshire will receive $117,425 under a three-year Project Grant from the National Science Foundation to support the "COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH: DIGITIZATION TCN: EXTENDING ANTHOPHILA RESEARCH THROUGH IMAGE AND TRAIT DIGITIZATION (BIG-BEE)" effort. The grant was awarded on September 15, 2021 under the Biological Sciences program (CFDA 47.074) to promote progress in the biological sciences. Through this funding, the University will digitize images and trait data of bee specimens to extend ongoing research on plant-pollinator interactions. Specifically, the University will digitize the Anthophila research collection, creating an open access online database to allow researchers improved access to specimen records. This work directly supports the goals of the Biological Sciences program to increase scientific knowledge of major issues in the field through basic research.
