The University of California, San Diego received a five-year, $500,000 Project Grant from the National Science Foundation Division of Electrical, Communications and Cyber Systems to support research titled "CAREER: SILICON-PHOTONICS HIGH-RESOLUTION REAL-TIME PROBABILITY APPARATUS FOR QUANTUM APPLICATIONS." The grant supports research and development of silicon-photonic technologies with applications in the field of quantum information science and engineering under the NSF Engineering Program (CFDA 47.041). Specifically, the funding will allow the university to develop high-resolution, real-time photonic apparatuses using silicon materials to advance capabilities for quantum applications. The work is being conducted at the university's location in La Jolla, California and will contribute to the NSF Directorate for Engineering's goals of improving innovation and excellence in engineering research.
