The University of Mississippi received a $352,549 Project Grant award from the National Science Foundation on March 1, 2021 to fund research titled "WALL TURBULENCE CONTROL AND SKIN-FRICTION DRAG REDUCTION WITH NOVEL SURFACE MICROSTRUCTURES." The award is part of the NSF's Engineering program (CFDA #47.041), which seeks to improve quality of life and economic strength through engineering research and education. Under the award, the University will conduct research through February 2024 to develop novel surface microstructures aimed at controlling wall turbulence and reducing skin-friction drag. The research may provide insights applicable to the NSF Engineering program's goals of fostering innovation in engineering.
