Rowan University received a $278,068 project grant award from the National Science Foundation Division of Civil, Mechanical, and Manufacturing Innovation to conduct research investigations of density-graded auxetic foams at multiple scales from August 1, 2021 to July 31, 2024. The award is funded through the NSF Directorate for Engineering's Engineering program (CFDA 47.041), which seeks to improve quality of life and economic strength through fostering innovation and excellence in engineering research. Specifically, the University will investigate density-graded auxetic foams, which have negative Poisson's ratios and expand laterally when stretched, at multiple size scales to advance fundamental understanding of their mechanical behavior and design capabilities. The place of performance is Rowan University in Glassboro, New Jersey.
