The University of Kentucky Research Foundation (the Research Foundation) received a $398,262 Project Grant award from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) Equipment Grants Program (EGP) (CFDA 10.519). This grant will enable the Research Foundation to acquire a triple quadrupole liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-TQ-MS) instrument to be housed in the Center for Agricultural and Life Science Metabolomics (CALM) core facility. The new instrument will enhance the university's analytical capabilities for targeted analysis of low-level metabolites, expanding research infrastructure to support projects across the university's colleges of Agriculture, Arts and Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, and Pharmacy. The LC-TQ-MS will be made available to researchers from the university as well as external researchers from Kentucky, other states, and overseas institutions. The awarded instrument is also expected to support undergraduate and K-12 outreach programs. The grant project period runs from September 15, 2024 to September 14, 2028.
