This $381,173 Project Grant awarded by the Institute of Food Production and Sustainability (formerly the United States Department of Agriculture) under the Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program (CFDA 10.311) will train 500 beginning farmers in New Hampshire on developing climate-ready farming practices. The University System of New Hampshire, through its University of New Hampshire division, will deliver a series of on-farm demonstrations, field days, workshops, and webinars to teach participants record-keeping, pest management, food safety, and other agricultural techniques to minimize the impact of weather-related events and natural disasters on their farm operations. The project aims to help beginning farmers preserve their resources, reduce crop and animal losses, and maintain a local food supply amidst increasing climate challenges in the state.
