This three-year, $149,000 Project Grant from the US Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture's Higher Education - Institution Challenge Grants Program (CFDA 10.217) will support Penn State University's interdisciplinary program to prepare students for careers supporting gender equity and diversity in agriculture. Over the grant period from January 2023 to December 2025, the program will place a total of 15 students in summer internships with six partner organizations recognized for gender and sustainable agriculture work. Students will receive pre-internship training and help advance partners' gender equity efforts. The program will also create a new course on gender and agriculture utilizing student-generated materials, reaching up to 75 additional students. The goal is equipping graduates with competencies to address gender concerns domestically and abroad in farming, research, education, policy and extension.
