The goal of this 3.75-year project is to demonstrate that Kuva's Remote Emissions Investigation System (REIS) can reduce identified, non-allowable methane emissions by an average of 95% across a portfolio of 175 oil and gas production sites. This project aims...
- This $6,252,775 Cooperative Agreement award, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (CFDA 81.089 - Fossil Energy Research and Development), supports the field deployment of three demonstration units at separate low-producing well sites. The objective is to validate the full-scale methane emission mitigation capacity and commercial viability of the technology over a 12-month period. The awardee, Electricore Inc., is a non-profit entity that...
- Aerodyne Research Inc. was awarded a $206,394 Project Grant from the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science's Financial Assistance Program (CFDA 81.049) to develop a low-cost hydrogen monitor for continuous quantification of facility emissions. The grant has a project period from July 10, 2023 to April 9, 2024. As a manufacturer of advanced sensor and software products for atmospheric monitoring, Aerodyne Research Inc. will leverage its expertise in areas such as air quality monitoring,...
- The Department of Energy's Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management has awarded a $3,409,297 Cooperative Agreement to Blue Sky Measurements, Inc. under the Fossil Energy Research and Development (CFDA 81.089) federal grant program. The three-phase project aims to perform field validation testing, develop a commercial-ready certified design, and obtain EPA approval for Blue Sky Measurements' NIRVIEW fixed-position optical sensing technology. The technology is designed for the detection,...
- The University of Texas at Austin was awarded a $20,000,000 Cooperative Agreement by the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management (CFDA 81.089 - Fossil Energy Research and Development) to conduct comprehensive methane emissions measurements and develop measurement-informed emission inventories for the Northeast United States. The key objectives of this project are to: Design and deploy multi-scale, consistent, and transparent methane emissions measurement systems...
- This federal Project Grant award of $175,000.00 was provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) under its Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program (CFDA 11.021). The purpose of the award is to develop a novel, low-cost, internet-cloud-connected solar spectrometer network capable of measuring methane, CO2, and water vapor over wide geographic regions with little or no human intervention. The awardee, Butterfly Photonics, Inc., will leverage this funding to...
AETHER HAS PROPOSED A SOLUTION THAT ALIGNS WITH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE'S STRATEGIC PLAN FOR COMBATING CLIMATE CHANGE THROUGH INVESTMENTS IN MITIGATING ITS IMPACTS. THE PROPOSED SOLUTION INVOLVES DEVELOPING A COMMERCIALLY VIABLE TECHNOLOGY THAT CAN MONITOR METHANE EMISSIONS FROM LIVESTOCK FARMS, LANDFILLS, AND GAS AND OIL INFRASTRUCTURES. THE TECHNOLOGY WILL PROVIDE HIGH-RESOLUTION AIR POLLUTION DATA IN REAL-TIME, WHICH CAN BE USED TO DEVELOP AN INTELLIGENT DECISION SUPPORT SYSTEM FOR METHANE REMEDIATION OR CAPTURE. THIS SOLUTION IS PARTICULARLY IMPORTANT GIVEN THAT METHANE IS THE PRIMARY CONTRIBUTOR TO HAZARDOUS AIR POLLUTANTS, GREENHOUSE GASSES, AND PREMATURE WORLDWIDE DEATHS.THE PROPOSED SOLUTION WILL BENEFIT THE GENERAL PUBLIC BY PROVIDING A LOW-COST, RUGGED, ACCURATE, AND SIMPLE PASSIVE DETECTION SYSTEM THAT CONTINUOUSLY OBSERVES THE ENVIRONMENT WITH NO HUMAN INTERVENTION. STANDARD CHEMICAL SENSORS ARE EXPENSIVE TO OPERATE, COMPLICATED TO USE, AND UNSUITABLE FOR FIELD USE. SPECIALIZED IMAGING TECHNOLOGY AS PART OF SATELLITES AND AIRCRAFT ARE INEFFECTIVE BECAUSE THEY CANNOT CONTINUALLY MONITOR THE THOUSANDS OF POTENTIAL METHANE SITES FOR REAL-TIME DETECTION. AETHER'S SOLUTION WILL OFFER REMOTE DETECTION TO ENABLE CAPTURE OR REMEDIATION AUTOMATION, REDUCED LABOR AND OPERATING COSTS, ENHANCED ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE AND PERFORMANCE, INCREASED PRODUCTIVITY, AND REAL-TIME ANALYSIS FOR BETTER DECISION MAKING. BY FILLING A GAP IN THE CHEMICAL DETECTION MARKET, AETHER'S IIOT SYSTEM WILL ENABLE THE GENERAL PUBLIC TO OPERATE THEIR ENTERPRISES RESPONSIBLY AND COMPLY WITH LOCAL, STATE, AND FEDERAL REQUIREMENTS WHILE PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT AFFORDABLY AND SAVING LIVES.THE VALUE PROPOSITION OF AETHER'S IIOT SYSTEM LIES IN ITS LOW SWAP-C ATTRIBUTES FOR THE TARGET MARKETS AND VERTICALS, REMOTE SENSING CAPABILITY, HIGH LEVELS OF CHEMICAL SPECIFICITY, AND AT LEAST A 10X COST REDUCTION OVER COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE STAND-OFF FOURIER-TRANSFORM INFRARED SPECTROSCOPY (FTIR) DEVICES. THE PROPOSED SOLUTION WILL ENABLE WIDE ADAPTABILITY, EMPOWERING GOVERNMENT AGENCIES TO ENACT CLIMATE CHANGE REGULATIONS IN MULTIPLE INDUSTRIES, AND ENABLING ENTERPRISES TO OPERATE RESPONSIBLY AND COMPLY WITH LOCAL, STATE, AND FEDERAL REQUIREMENTS.
