The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) received a $268,338 Project Grant award from the United States Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture under the Hispanic Serving Institutions Education Grants program (CFDA 10.223). The funding will enhance UTSA's Master of Science in Statistics and Data Science program by establishing the Data Science and Data Analytics Laboratory. The Laboratory will be staffed by MS-SDS students under faculty supervision and provide statistical research and consulting services to internal and external clients in the food, agriculture, natural resources and human sciences fields. It will also offer tutoring services to undergraduate students in statistics and actuarial science. Participation in the Laboratory's experiential learning opportunities will be integrated into a redesigned MS-SDS curriculum to help students apply statistical tools and machine learning techniques to solve real-world problems. The four-year award period runs from September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2026.
