Tennessee State University will use a $526,315.79 Project Grant award from the US Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture to support 72 academically talented students interested in food and agricultural sciences over four years. Through the Scholarships for Students at 1890 Institutions program, the university aims to increase enrollment, retention, and completion of baccalaureate degrees in food, agricultural, and natural resource sciences. In addition to scholarships, students will participate in career preparation workshops, intrusive advising, mentoring, and undergraduate research experiences to engage, train and graduate scholars with scientific and technical competencies in relevant fields. Performance will be evaluated to assess preparing students to obtain graduate studies or agriculture workforce positions.
