The Kentucky Department of Agriculture was awarded a $559,606 Project Grant from the USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture under the Farm and Ranch Stress Assistance Network Competitive Grants Program (FRSAN CGP) for the period of September 1, 2021 through August 31, 2023.
The grant funding will support the development of several programs by the Kentucky Department of Agriculture to expand existing efforts in the state addressing farmer stress, mental health, and suicide prevention. Specifically, the programs will include activities such as farm helplines, training, support groups, and outreach/information dissemination as outlined under the FRSAN CGP. A historically black college and university will also partner on a peer-to-peer project, and youth curriculum development will be conducted in collaboration with FRSAN. The programs aim to meet USDA strategic goals and address priority areas under the statutory authority of the FRSAN CGP.
