The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Under Secretary for Health awarded $3,060,790 to Eastern Carolina Homelessness Org, Inc. on October 1, 2025, under the VA Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program (CFDA 64.033). The award funds outreach services, case management, assistance in obtaining VA benefits, assistance in obtaining and coordinating other public benefits, and temporary financial assistance paid directly to third parties on behalf of participants for child care, emergency housing assistance, transportation, rental assistance, utility-fee payment assistance, security deposits, utility deposits, moving costs, and general housing stability assistance. Optional supportive services may include legal assistance and financial management services. Performance period runs through September 30, 2026, with all work performed in South Carolina. Eastern Carolina Homelessness Org, Inc., a tax-exempt nonprofit headquartered in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, serves very low-income veteran families residing in permanent housing, homeless and scheduled to transition to permanent housing, or exiting permanent housing and seeking responsive alternative housing. The SSVF program aims to quickly rehouse veterans who are literally homeless and prevent veterans from becoming homeless through a veteran-centered, permanent housing with supportive services model, offering housing barriers mitigation and sustained housing support.
