The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration awarded $6.968 million to Community Service Council, Inc. on October 1, 2025, under the VA Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program (CFDA 64.033) to provide supportive services to very low-income veteran families.
Community Service Council delivers outreach services, case management, assistance obtaining VA benefits, and assistance obtaining and coordinating other public benefits to veteran families residing in permanent housing, homeless and scheduled to transition to permanent housing within a specified period, or exiting permanent housing and seeking housing responsive to their needs and preferences. The recipient may also provide temporary financial assistance paid directly to third parties on behalf of participants for child care, emergency housing assistance, transportation, rental assistance, utility-fee payment assistance, security deposits, utility deposits, moving costs, and general housing stability assistance including emergency supplies. Optional supportive services include legal assistance and financial management services.
Performance occurs in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, with a period of performance from October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026. The SSVF program aims to rapidly rehouse veterans experiencing literal homelessness and prevent veterans from becoming homeless through rapid re-housing and homelessness prevention services, allowing veteran families to access and sustain permanent rental housing without preconditions while facilitating access to health care, employment, legal services, and other supports.
