The National Institute of Justice awarded Boston University Medical Campus $691,449.50 under the National Institute of Justice Research, Evaluation, and Development Project Grants program to study Racial and Ethnic Differences in Non-Fatal Firearm Injuries. The goal of this project grant funding is to develop new criminal justice knowledge and tools that can help reduce crime and advance justice at state and local levels. Specifically, Boston University Medical Campus will analyze racial and ethnic differences in non-fatal firearm injuries between January 1, 2018 and June 30, 2022. As the goal of the National Institute of Justice program is to support research, demonstration, and evaluation projects relevant to criminal justice, the results of this study will help generate insights on non-fatal firearm violence and outcomes across different racial and ethnic groups.
