The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Under Secretary for Health awarded $1,299,182 to Volunteers of America Northern California and Northern Nevada, Inc. under the Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program (SSVF Program; CFDA 64.033) on August 19, 2022. The SSVF Program aims to provide supportive services grants to organizations assisting very low-income Veteran families who are homeless, at-risk of homelessness, or transitioning to permanent housing.
Through this award, Volunteers of America will deliver supportive services including outreach, case management, assistance obtaining VA and other public benefits, temporary financial assistance paid directly to third parties for needs like childcare and housing stability, and optional services such as legal aid and financial management training. These services will help very low-income Veteran families obtain and sustain permanent housing.
