AN ESTIMATED 239 RSVP VOLUNTEERS WILL SERVE THROUGH SOUTHERN RHODE ISLAND VOLUNTEERS. OF THIS NUMBER, 239 RSVP VOLUNTEERS WILL BE PLACED IN OUTCOME ASSIGNMENTS. SOME OF THEIR ACTIVITIES WILL INCLUDE TRANSPORTING SENIOR CITIZENS TO MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS AND THE GROCERY STORE, DELIVERING MEALS ON WHEELS AND FOOD COMMODITIES FROM LOCAL FOOD PANTRIES, COMPANIONSHIP FOR HOMEBOUND SENIORS AND DISASTER PREPARATION. THE PRIMARY FOCUS AREA OF THIS PROJECT IS HEALTHY FUTURES. AT THE END OF THE THREE-YEAR GRANT PERIOD 296 INDIVIDUALS WILL REPORT IMPROVED CAPACITY FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING.
