THE MISSION OF OUTSIDE THE LENS IS TO EMPOWER YOUTH TO USE DIGITAL MEDIA TO CREATE CHANGE WITHIN THEMSELVES, THEIR COMMUNITY, AND THEIR WORLD. THE PROPOSED VISTA PROJECT ALIGNS WITH EDUCATION FOCUS AREA. THE VISTA PROJECT WILL SEEK TO ADD FIFTEEN PROFESSIONAL MENTORS TO OUR ADVISORY BOARD, DEVELOP MEDIA EDUCATION TRAINING FOR EDUCATORS, AND DEVELOP NEW OUTSIDE PARTNERSHIPS TO SUSTAIN THE PROGRAM IN THE LONG TERM, AND EXPECTS TO BENEFIT 75 STUDENTS DIRECTLY AND 1,500 STUDENTS INDIRECTLY (THROUGH TEACHER TRAININGS, ETC). THREE VISTA MEMBERS WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE GOALS OF THE PROJECT BY PERFORMING ACTIVITIES SUCH AS DEVELOPING MEDIA EDUCATION CURRICULUM TO TEACHERS, VOLUNTEERS, AND STUDENTS; COORDINATING THE EXPANSION OF OUR ADVISORY BOARD; MEETING WITH COMMUNITY LEADERS; AND REFINING METHODS OF PROGRAM EVALUATION OVER THE COURSE OF ONE YEAR.
