The Michigan Department of State Police was awarded a $182,328 Project Grant from the Department of Justice Offices Boards and Divisions Community Oriented Policing Program to deliver de-escalation training from September 1, 2021 to August 31, 2023. The grant funding will support the Michigan State Police's De-Escalation Training Project under the Public Safety Partnership and Community Policing Grants program. This program aims to enhance public safety through community policing strategies and collaborative problem solving between law enforcement and the communities they serve. Specifically, the funding will be used to provide de-escalation training to help law enforcement develop solutions to public safety issues through non-confrontational interactions, relationship building, and community involvement.
