The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Under Secretary for Health awarded $523,413 to The Salvation Army under the Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program (SSVF Program, CFDA 64.033) on October 1, 2021. The funding will support The Salvation Army's provision of supportive services to very low-income veteran families in Ohio. As required by the SSVF Program, services will include outreach, case management, and assistance obtaining VA and other public benefits. The Salvation Army may also provide temporary financial assistance paid directly to third parties for childcare, emergency housing and utilities, transportation, rental and utility payment assistance, security deposits, moving costs, and general housing stability support including emergency supplies. These services aim to coordinate or provide supportive services to veteran families residing in permanent housing, those who are homeless or will become permanent housing residents, or those seeking other housing responsive to their needs after leaving permanent housing.
