The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration Under Secretary for Health awarded a $1,155,721 Project Grant to Operation Stand Down Rhode Island through the VA Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program (CFDA 64.033). The grant will support Operation Stand Down Rhode Island in providing supportive services to very low-income Veteran families residing in or transitioning to permanent housing. Required services include outreach, case management, and assistance obtaining VA and other public benefits. Optional services that may also be provided using grant funds are temporary financial assistance paid directly to third parties for childcare, emergency housing, transportation, rental/utility payments, security deposits, moving costs, and general housing stability assistance. Legal assistance and financial management services are also allowable optional supportive services. The October 1, 2021 award will aid veterans and their families in maintaining housing stability.
