The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration awarded $3.645 million under the Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program (SSVF Program, CFDA 64.033) on August 19, 2022 to Advocate Program, Inc. to provide supportive services to very low-income Veteran families. Required services include outreach, case management, and assistance obtaining VA and other public benefits. Optional services that may also be provided using award funds are temporary financial assistance paid directly to third parties for childcare, emergency housing and transportation assistance, rental and utility payment assistance, security and utility deposits, moving costs, and general housing stability assistance including emergency supplies. Legal assistance and financial management services are also allowable optional supportive services. The SSVF Program aims to coordinate or directly provide these services to Veteran families residing in permanent housing, those who are homeless and scheduled to obtain permanent housing, or those seeking different housing after exiting permanent housing.
