The Economic Development Administration awarded $1.09 million to the City of Manistee, Michigan through the Economic Adjustment Assistance program (CFDA 11.307) on September 6, 2022 to upgrade safety features and improve accessibility along the South Riverwalk in downtown Manistee. The project aims to boost tourism in the region by enhancing the Riverwalk experience for visitors along the Manistee River. Once completed, the upgraded Riverwalk infrastructure is expected to increase activity in downtown Manistee and support business and job growth by attracting more tourists throughout the area. The EAA program supports regions facing adverse economic conditions by funding public works and infrastructure projects that promote long-term economic resiliency and growth.
