This $5.08 million project grant from the Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration under the CFDA 11.307 Economic Adjustment Assistance program will fund construction of the new Trades District Technology Center in Bloomington, Indiana. The Center will serve as a second-stage commercialization support facility and physical office space for emerging tech-based businesses. Located within an Opportunity Zone and part of the city's certified technology park and Trades District, the Center will connect start-ups and second-stage technology firms with regional entrepreneurial resources like Indiana University and the Naval Surface Warfare Center at Crane. This will help bring new products to market and create high-quality jobs and private investment, supporting economic recovery in the Bloomington region from effects of the COVID-19 pandemic by diversifying the local economy.
