This $580,909 Economic Adjustment Assistance Project Grant from the Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration will support the Montana Foreign Direct Investment Strategy project led by the University of Montana. The project aims to enhance community assets, support growth in U.S. exports tied to foreign direct investment, and ultimately return jobs to the United States by targeting foreign direct investment opportunities in Montana that will facilitate capital investments in new or existing Montana businesses. Regional planning efforts led by various economic development organizations in the state were instrumental in developing an economic roadmap to strengthen the regional economy through private capital investment and job creation. The EDA's Economic Adjustment Assistance program provides technical, planning, and infrastructure assistance to regions experiencing adverse economic changes, such as those resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic, with the goal of diversifying and strengthening Montana's economy through this foreign direct investment attraction strategy.
