This $3.874 million Project Grant from the Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration's Investments for Public Works and Economic Development Facilities program will fund construction of the 45,000 square foot Tampa Bay Innovation Center incubator in Belleair, Florida. The incubator aims to support economic diversification and resilience in Pinellas County following employment losses in the industrial sector from Hurricane Irma by facilitating private sector job creation and investment through startup acceleration. Based on a third-party feasibility study, the County of Pinellas estimates the incubator will result in 466 new jobs and $66.6 million in private capital investment. The award date was September 29, 2021. The EDA also funds the Tampa Bay Regional Planning Council to coordinate regional economic development planning, of which this project was an outcome.
