The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) received a $98,311,183 Project Grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Clean Heavy-Duty Vehicles Program (CFDA 66.049) established by the Inflation Reduction Act. This funding will support NCTCOG in replacing 234 existing internal combustion engine heavy-duty vehicles across 40 fleets in Texas with zero-emission vehicles, including battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell models. The grant will also cover the installation of up to 208 electric vehicle charging stations and 6 hydrogen refueling stations, as well as workforce development and training programs for the maintenance, charging, fueling, and operation of the new zero-emission vehicles. The project aims to reduce annual emissions by approximately 38 tons of nitrogen oxides, 2 tons of particulate matter, and 10,000 tons of greenhouse gases, leading to improved air quality and public health in the targeted communities. No sub-awards are included under this assistance agreement.
