This federal Project Grant award of $3,015,485.00 from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Environmental and Climate Justice Community Change Grants Program (CFDA 66.616) will support Air Alliance Houston and its subrecipients in building the capacity of communities and governments along the Texas Gulf Coast to evaluate and address environmental and climate injustices. The key activities include conducting community-based and citizen-science initiatives, preparing and training impacted communities on engaging in government processes, and facilitating the meaningful participation of these communities in environmental and climate justice decision-making. Specific deliverables include 3 community-based research initiatives, training for 4,000 community residents, 108 educational meetings, and influencing 9 policies through community recommendations. Subrecipients Houston Advanced Research Center, Coalition for Environment, Equity, and Resilience, Community In-Power and Development Association, and Ingleside on the Bay Coastal Watch Association will support various aspects of the project in different regions of Texas.
