This $12,704,048 Project Grant, awarded by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Environmental and Climate Justice Community Change Grants Program (CFDA 66.616), will fund a comprehensive set of activities to revitalize green spaces, monitor and decrease air pollution, and increase climate resilience in the disadvantaged communities of Presidio, Texas.

Key deliverables include: planting 1,056 native trees along a 4-mile bike/pedestrian path, creating 3 detention ponds to capture water runoff, establishing a community native garden, planting 1,664 trees on private properties, and installing 50 air quality monitors for a bi-national air quality monitoring program. The project will also develop a solar-powered community resilience hub to serve as a cooling center during power outages and create an emergency plan to support the community's most vulnerable residents. The City of Presidio and Rio Grande Joint Venture are serving as the sub-recipients to oversee the varied project activities.
