The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) awarded a $133,334 Project Grant to Austin Youth River Watch to implement an environmental education project in Austin, Texas under the EPA's Environmental Education Grants Program (CFDA 66.951). The project aims to increase environmental literacy and encourage pro-environmental behaviors among high school students through a semester-long afterschool program, a summer program, bi-monthly water quality testing, environmental restoration projects, and educational field trips. The grant includes subawards to support additional environmental education activities at local schools and through a youth farming program. Key anticipated outcomes include improved student knowledge of local water quality and watershed health, enhanced Austin watershed health through restoration projects, and increased environmental data collection. The project period runs from February 1, 2025 to January 31, 2026.
