The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's (HUD) Public and Indian Housing Office awarded a $208,819 Public Housing Operating Fund (CFDA 14.850) formula grant to the Danville Redevelopment & Housing Authority in Danville, Virginia. This grant, effective January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2031, provides operating subsidies to the housing authority to assist in funding the day-to-day operational and maintenance expenses of their public housing projects. The funding supports critical activities such as property management, routine and preventative maintenance, anti-crime and security initiatives, energy cost management, resident supportive services, and administrative expenses. This program serves approximately 6,000 housing authorities and 1.59 million public housing residents nationwide, with 44% of residents being elderly and 35% having children.
