The Memphis Innovation Corridor Project is a federal Formula Grant award from the Federal Transit Administration (CFDA 20.507 Federal Transit Formula Grants) to the Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA). The $2,329,854 grant, awarded on August 21, 2024, will fund the installation of 16 new transit stations, the reconstruction of 54 traffic signals, the implementation of transit signal priority and queue jumps, and the construction of ADA-compliant infrastructure and fiber optic communications along the corridor. The project aims to improve safety, accessibility, sustainability, and mobility by providing a more reliable and frequent transit system that connects key areas of downtown Memphis, the medical district, and the University of Memphis. The intended beneficiaries are the local population, transit riders, commuters, and persons with disabilities in the Memphis area.
