The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) was awarded a $5,614,073 Formula Grant from the U.S. Department of Education's Office of English Language Acquisition under the English Language Acquisition State Grants program (CFDA 84.365). The grant, which runs from July 1, 2024 to September 30, 2025, will support efforts to help ensure that English learners, including immigrant children and youth, attain English proficiency and meet challenging state academic standards. KDE, as the state education agency, will utilize the funding to deliver a comprehensive array of educational services and supports to local school districts across Kentucky, including English language instruction, academic enrichment, teacher professional development, curriculum development, parent engagement, and technology-based programs. By partnering with local education agencies, community organizations, and other state agencies, KDE aims to improve language acquisition, academic achievement, and educational outcomes for non-native English speakers throughout the state.
