The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) has been awarded a $1,242,905 Formula Grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Transit Administration (CFDA 20.513 - Enhanced Mobility of Seniors and Individuals with Disabilities) to provide transportation services for individuals with disabilities and older adults in the rural areas of South Carolina. The funding will be used to cover eligible capital projects, including two 3rd party contracts for purchase of service, five purpose-built vehicle expansions, and six cutaway expansions. Specific subrecipients receiving capital assistance for purchase of service and vehicle acquisitions under this grant include the Lowcountry Council of Governments, various county-level agencies, and Aiken Senior Life Service. The project outcomes are intended to allow SCDOT and its subrecipients to continue providing mobility services for the target populations in rural parts of the state.
