The Kansas State Department of Education received a $7.966 million Student Support and Academic Enrichment Formula Grant from the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Elementary and Secondary Education. The grant was awarded on July 1, 2021 under the Student Support and Academic Enrichment program (CFDA 84.424) to improve student academic achievement by increasing access to well-rounded educational opportunities, improving school conditions for student learning, and improving the use of technology in the classroom.
As the primary awardee, KSDE distributed sub-awards totaling the $7.966 million to 33 local educational agencies across Kansas, including several unified school districts. The sub-awards were provided to support Title IV, Part A activities focused on expanding access to a well-rounded education, improving school conditions for student learning, and improving the use of technology in the classroom for students served by each LEA. Key sub-awardees included Topeka USD 501, Shawnee Mission USD 260, Wichita USD 259, and Kansas City USD 500. The period of performance for the grant is from July 1, 2021 through September 30, 2022.
