The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NC DPI) was awarded a $18,661,675.00 Formula Grant from the U.S. Department of Education under the English Language Acquisition State Grants program (CFDA 84.365). The purpose of this grant is to help ensure that English learners, including immigrant children and youth, attain English proficiency and meet the same challenging state academic standards as all other students. Through this funding, NC DPI will deliver critical education, language acquisition, and support services to impact millions of students and school personnel across North Carolina's public school system. As the state education agency, NC DPI has established a track record of successfully managing and implementing large-scale federal grant programs, including formula and project grants for child nutrition, career and technical education, special education, and pandemic relief.
