The Department of Education Office of Elementary and Secondary Education awarded a $605,250 Formula Grant to the South Dakota Department of Education under the Rural Education (CFDA 84.358) federal grant program. The grant period is from July 1, 2022 to September 30, 2023. The Rural Education program aims to improve the quality of teaching and learning in rural school districts.
Two sub-awards were provided to local educational agencies to carry out the program goals. Oglala Lakota County School District and Todd County School District 66-1 each received sub-awards to support rural education achievement programs in their respective districts through September 2023. The funding will allow both districts to enhance services that improve outcomes for students in rural South Dakota communities.
